GDi is two years stronger!

Two years ago, with one single motivation of building a place that works as 'one team', while making a tangible change in the lives of millions, GDi came into existence. Since its inception, it has worked extensively towards its ambitious goal of transforming the lives of individuals and communities towards an inclusive and equitable world. From a handful of mavericks, we became a family of 30+ action-driven members who were daring enough to embark on paths less taken to transform the world.

In these two years, we had the fortune of working with the country's most remarkable minds that form our support ecosystem, including our partners, governments funders and mentors. As we fly towards the next phase of our journey, we pause and reflect on the victories claimed and the learning cherished. These victories wouldn't have been possible without your constant support and partaking! We extend our heartfelt gratitude and seek your constant support in many more paths to come.

Project Updates

Data Analytics Unit (DAU)

In order to ensure every citizen of the state receive relevant scheme and services, the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) through the GSWS department, launched the Gram Sachivalayam initiative which decentralizes the public administration and service delivery to the grassroots.

GDi team is supporting the department in establishing a ‘Data Analytics Unit’ which will enable the state and district officials to take data-backed decisions, thereby unlocking the benefits of data to improve scheme delivery in Andhra Pradesh further.

Punjab Air Quality Reforms

GDi has recently partnered with the Government of Punjab to help design interventions for the improvement in the quality of air with support from Open Philanthropy. Over the next couple of years, we will focus on all critical aspects of air pollution, including industrial pollution, vehicular pollution, dust-related pollution, biomass burning (including stubble burning), citizen engagement and building robust tech and data systems to support all initiatives.

We have kick-started the program by focusing on a time-sensitive topic: stubble burning. We are supporting the government in designing and implementing systemic initiatives for stubble burning.

Over the past few months, we have worked closely with the Chief Secretary's Office, the Department of Agriculture, the Punjab Pollution Control Board and the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre. One of the major tasks has been supporting the department and district-level reviews through data-backed actionable insights

What is new at GDi?

Meet Anamika!

Anamika joins GDi with two years work experience with J-PAL South Asia as a senior policy associate . She worked on supporting their institutional partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu and scaling up an economic inclusion program for ultra-poor women called Graduation Approach. Anamika has also worked as a Teach for India fellow in Mumbai where she taught a class of 120 grade 4 students. Anamika holds a masters degree in Public Policy and Management from SOAS, London and an undergraduate degree in Law and Sociology from the University of Warwick. Outside of work, Anamika enjoys reading, travelling and is always on a lookout for good coffee! Motivated to create impact, Anamika aims to leverage her experience to contribute to GDI's mission of transforming lives of individuals and communities to create an equitable and inclusive nation.

Meet Kheizer!

Kheizer Ahmed joins GDi Partners with more than 2 years of experience in market research working with Pulse – InMobi Group. He holds a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Investment Analysis from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, University of Delhi. In college, Kheizer established and led a social entrepreneurship project named Project Khidki with a US based not-for-profit organization Enactus to irradicate malnutrition in the age bracket of 0-5 years in urban slums of Delhi. Motivation to create impact and passion for solving complex problems, to make world a better place has led Kheizer to join GDi Partners Outside of work, Kheizer loves going into nature for trekking and cycling, and likes to spend time with friends over a cup of tea.

Pre-Placement talk at ISB Mohali

With this recruitment cycle, we have officially started our campus placement. GDi partners was invited at the Indian School of Business to give a pre-placement talk. Our Founder and CEO Ankur Bansal, along with Jahnavi Pachisia and Daksh Arora visited the Mohali Campus to conduct an information session with the students on social sector opportunities and GDi's approach.

Diye Jalao Patake Nahi

October was a time of get togethers and festivities, and GDi wasn’t far behind! As a part of the Winter Action Plan, we proudly supported the Govt. of Delhi in the “Diye Jalao Patake Nahi” event. More than 51,000 diyas were lit at Central Park, showing that a happy and cracker-free Diwali are in-season.

The 10,000 FPOs scheme ignores women farmers

In this piece, Shilpa Vasavada puts forth her concern that if we don’t revisit the new Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO) guidelines with a gender lens, women in the agriculture sector will be left behind. She makes a case for the inclusion of women in FPOs, by indicating how it has the potential to ensure both gender justice, as well as business productivity, and outlines measures which can be taken to increase female participation.
