The 17th edition of the iconic Atacama Crossing is set to return on 24 September 2023. With nearly 120 racers from 37 countries, we can't wait to experience the breathtaking scenery of the Andes mountains, Death Valley, Moon Valley, the infamous salt flats, the frigid slot canyons and The Long March which takes place under the clearest skies on Earth. And who could forget the world's most loved town, San Pedro de Atacama.
This year's field includes ages ranging from 23 to nearly 70 years old, and racers from Taiwan, Korea, Morocco, Uruguay, Croatia and Latvia, to name a few. The largest contingent hails from the United States, making up nearly 20 percent of the field. The United Kingdom is not far behind with roughly 15 percent of the overall competitors. Twenty-nine percent of the field is women. There are several past RacingThePlanet champions including Kevin Lin of Taiwan. Top female contenders include Magdalena Paschke of Germany and Isabelle Dufour of France, among others. See the full competitor list.
