Dear Friends,

Happy Mother’s Day – this Sunday we celebrate the faith and love of mother’s who give themselves to their families. Though we can’t meet together, we honor the mother’s in our church family.

On Thursday, May 7, people across our nation joined in prayer on the National Day of Prayer. Seeking God’s face has never been as important as it is now. Cape Cod has been spared the full brunt of this pandemic and I believe that is due to the prayers of the church on Cape Cod. I encourage you to take time over the next few days to pray for God’s glory to be seen across our land and for his intervention in this crisis we face. On our Friday Night Zoom call we will join in the National Day of Prayer.

Updates

Virtual Sunday Worship: This Sunday our service will again be online at firstbaptistchurchofpocasset.online.church. You can check our Facebook page or our church website for a link to our service as well. Join us at 10:00 am as we share together in the goodness of our God.

The Tuesday evening Recovery (AA) Bible study with Steve O’Connell will continue to meet with less than 10 people, until the coronavirus restrictions are lifted.

“Friday Night Live”– You are invited to join with us as we meet through Zoom on Friday nights to catch up and pray with one another. Since we can’t be together in person, the next best thing is to see each other online. I am sending the Zoom invitation to everyone for whom I have an email address. If you would like to join with us, please email me at pastor@pocassetbaptist.org

National Day of Prayer: Thursday, May 7this the National Day of Prayer. We will observe it as a church at our Friday Zoom meeting where we will join in prayer together. The Glory of God on Cape Cod is initiating a three day prayer gathering via Zoom for Thursday through Saturday. You can find more information on the National Days of Prayer, Cape Cod Facebook page.

Message

Everyone likes good news. The greatest news of all is found in the gospel of Jesus kingdom. This Gospel does change everything about life. Last week we looked at the good news that God can now live in us in the person of his Holy Spirit. When God invades our lives we are forever changed. We will continue our series on The Gospel Changes Everything looking at Ephesians 1:3-6 and Isaiah 40:9-11 as we consider the good news that we are “Chosen in Christ”. Every person wants to be chosen, to be included, to be a part of a family. God made us this way. The Gospel tells us that we are adopted in Christ into God’s family. Understanding this changes everything. See you on Sunday.

This Week @ Pocasset Baptist

Bible Readings– Jesus said that we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. What better way to feed ourselves spiritually but to read from God’s word every day. For this week we are reading: 1 Samuel 13 - 24 ; Psalms 125 - 131; Romans 10 - 16.

This week we will focus our prayer for Buzzards Bay. Pray for our church family who live in Buzzards Bay. that they would be a light for the gospel and for those who live in Buzzards Bay for God to draw them to Jesus. Let’s believe Him for a move of the Holy Spirit!

Thank you for your faithful and ongoing support of our church ministry during this shut down. You can give through PayPal on our website, or with Cashapp ($FirstBaptistPocasset) or by mailing your check to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1080, Pocasset, MA 02559.

We have a Facebook group (PBC Community) to help us stay in touch with one another. If you have not received an invitation, please join Facebook and let Pastor Glenn know and you will be added to our group. Be sure to like us on Facebook to increase our viewership.

This week pray for your neighbors and look for every way you may serve them in Jesus’ love. Do the elderly need someone to pick up anything from the store?

Pray for One: Ask God to show you who is your person of peace and pray for them. Pray that God gives you an opportunity to share Jesus story with them.

If you have announcements for the newsletter or the bulletin, please email Glenn. You may also text message or call him at 774-368-0980.
