A Baltimore memoir with a St. Thomas’ Connection
Saturday, November 8 2:00 p.m. Parish Hall
Join author Mark Gornick as he discusses his book, Sharing the Crust: A Communion of Saints in a Baltimore Neighborhood. In the book, Mark tells the story of an unbreakable love through the life and witness of Allan Tibbels and a communion of saints in the Sandtown neighborhood of Baltimore.
Sharing the Crust is about the power of small changes, “the little way,” and the hard work of peacemaking in a divided world. It is about the meaning of companionship in this life and the life to come, of who we are to one another. A refreshingly complex story of ministry, church life, and community development, Sharing the Crust is a witness to faith, hope, and love for our times.
Bio: Mark R. Gornik is an American theologian, missiologist, author, pastor, and director of City Seminary of New York. He has researched and written about urban ministry, community development, theological education, and the study of global Christianity, particularly African Christianity in New York City.

An Interview By The Rev. Cn. Dina van Klaveren
“Nada te turbe”
By Noah Elijah Stone
Noah has always had a gift for making music. As a church musician and a street musician, he shares his gift generously with others. His gift has been honed through his study of violin and voice at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. You can still find Noah in Baltimore, playing for the weekly contemplative eucharist at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, at a bilingual misa at Church of the Guardian Angel, or along the busy public areas of the Inner Harbor. Truly a Church Family
I became a member at St. Thomas’ in the 80’s. My wife, Donna, was a member from birth. I have been to many churches—most denominations. I have always felt welcome at St. Thomas’. We left for a little while and when we came back it was like coming home. Our family went through a lot with my wife battling cancer. We could count on you!
After her passing, nothing changed. Everyone has been here for support. Truly a church family. This church family is always looking for people in need. They answer the call. As a Volunteer Firefighter, answering the call is a life-changing experience. Donations are one way to support the efforts. Volunteering is another. I learned that from my wife and our caring Rector.
Please consider your donation and maybe some time. Thank you for allowing me to share my story. God works in mysterious ways.

Help Provide Food and Life Essentials to Owings Mills Households in Need!
The Community Crisis Center has been addressing hunger and hardship in the Owings Mills area by providing our neighbors in need with supplemental food and essentials for over 40 years, rebuilding hope and self-reliance. They recently lost a major donor and face rising food costs and funding cuts—all while serving more and more families every month (they served 175 monthly in 2019 and now serve over 1,000 monthly).
How You Can Help the Most Right Now:
- Purchasing specific priority items listed to the below and dropping them off at the Parish Office. Our goal is 75+ for each item, each month.
- Giving financially to support food purchases (see why below). To Donate, click here and select “Outreach - Community Crisis Center” in the menu.
Questions? Please contact Margaret Green.

|
| Your Financial Gift Doubles the Amount of Food You Can Give |
|
|
When the Community Crisis Center spends a dollar through the American Food Bank, it can buy roughly twice as much food as that same dollar can buy at a local grocery store. St. Thomas’ asks you to consider donating financially so we can multiply our impact and feed more Owings Mills households in need. To Donate: Click here and select “Outreach - Community Crisis Center.”

Saturday, November 15 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Washington D.C.
Join St. Thomas’ parishioners on a trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.—a place where all Americans can learn about the richness and diversity of the African American experience, what it means to their lives, and how it helped us shape this nation.
The museum offers powerful and educational exhibits detailing the beginnings of slavery in America, the experiences of those captured from Africa, and the impact slavery had on America’s evolution. In addition, visitors can see artifacts like Harriet Tubman’s hymnal; Nat Turner’s bible; A plantation cabin from South Carolina; Guard tower from Angola Prison; Chuck Berry’s red Cadillac convertible; and works by prolific artists such as Charles Alston, Elizabeth Catlett, Romare Bearden, and Henry O.
