Thee Balancer, The Parallel Bars – Pierre Klossowski
Trailer for the script for a short film. Script, direction, editing, sound design, by Thee Balancer, 1995*
As my dissertation for the Cologne Academy of Media Arts I wrote the script for a 20-minute short film. It is based on themes in Pierre Klossowski's Novel "The Laws of Hospitality". The novel revolves around its main figure, Roberte. The mysterious riddle of her world as it moves between dream, imagination, true sensual experiences and desires is the theme of this film. The trailer was made in order to better introduce my script. Unfortunately I couldnt realize the project up to day.
*Thee Balancer is based in Berlin. Initially drawn to tape experiments in the late Seventies involving recording and layering snippets from TV alongside music, this lead Thee Balancer into electronic music with the work of Throbbing Gristle cited as a major influence on his work. After a spell in Jamaica
voraciously absorbing reggae and dub, Thee Balancer returned to Germany, enrolled at Cologne's Academy of Media Arts and focussed exclusively on sound design and film score, a grounding that gives his tracks a rich atmosphere and spatial depth.
