Learn about the exciting proposed vision for our church
January - February See Dates and Times Below 20 Min. Presentations + Q&A Parish Hall (Sun/Tues) & Zoom (Thurs)
The leaders of our church have been investigating the need for several capital improvements and upgrades, as well as ministry opportunities we would like to share with you. We have completed much of the preliminary planning, and we are excited about presenting it to the congregation. You are cordially invited to attend one of the Focus Group Meetings. The purpose of these meetings is to give everyone in our congregation an opportunity to hear the proposed vision for our church. This is an excellent opportunity for each member of our parish to provide us with your thoughts concerning these ideas. Our church is important to all of us. Your suggestions are needed to be certain we are faithfully fulfilling our responsibilities to St. Thomas’, both today and for the future.

| An Invitation from the Bishop for Community Organizing Training |
Saturday, January 17 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Cathedral of the Incarnation, Baltimore
Dear Beloved Lay and Clergy Leaders of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland,
In this Advent season of preparation, we turn our attention toward the light of Christ as we seek to embody courageous love in our hearts and in our works.
I invite you to participate in a diocesan Community Organizing Training. This gathering is an opportunity for us to deepen our Christian practice of living the Gospel: not only in word and worship, but in how we organize our common life and act together in the world.
This training is planned for the weekend when our nation remembers the prophetic and justice-driven ministry of Blessed Martin Luther King, Jr., whose work embodied the power of Jesus’ command to love our neighbors with boldness and intention. Dr. King understood that love becomes transformative when it is organized: when people come together, build power, and act for the sake of God’s justice and peace. As a diocese, we are seeking to grow, with God’s help, as a community of love in action.
This training will introduce and strengthen the practical skills of community organizing:
- listening in order to act
- engaging in leadership development
- discerning shared values, mutual self-interest, common concerns, and what God is already doing in the world
- organizing for power that reflects Jesus’ way of compassion, courage, and truth
The tools of faith-based community organizing offers the Church resources to foster community across partisan political divides for the sake of the Gospel. These are tools that help congregations and leaders participate in God’s mission, respond faithfully to local needs, and act together for the flourishing of all God’s children. Whether your parish is new to this work or already deeply engaged, your presence will strengthen our collective capacity to live our faith in tangible, hope-filled ways. We have seen time and time again how the practical skills of community organizing helps to build the Kingdom of God in our broader communities and within our congregations as well.
Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for this important day of learning, prayer, and growth. Registration can be found by clicking here.
With gratitude for your ministry and all the ways you bear the light of Christ into this beautiful, broken, and blessed world,
The Rt. Rev. Carrie Schofield-Broadbent
Bishop, Episcopal Diocese of Maryland

| Help Provide Food and Life Essentials to Owings Mills Households in Need! |
The Community Crisis Center has been addressing hunger and hardship in the Owings Mills area by providing our neighbors in need with supplemental food and essentials for over 40 years, rebuilding hope and self-reliance. They recently lost a major donor and face rising food costs and funding cuts—all while serving more and more families every month (they served 175 monthly in 2019 and now serve over 1,000 monthly).
How You Can Help the Most Right Now:
- Purchasing specific priority items listed to the below and dropping them off at the Parish Office. Note: CCC Priorities have changed to now include bar soap and shampoo. Our goal is 75+ for each item, each month.
- Giving financially to support food purchases (see why below). To Donate, click here and select “Outreach - Community Crisis Center” in the menu.
Questions? Please contact Margaret Green.
| Your Financial Gift Doubles the Amount of Food You Can Give |
When the Community Crisis Center spends a dollar through the Maryland Food Bank, it can buy roughly twice as much food as that same dollar can buy at a local grocery store. St. Thomas’ asks you to consider donating financially so we can multiply our impact and feed more Owings Mills households in need. To Donate: Click here and select “Outreach - Community Crisis Center.”
